Adventures with Grandma

This past weekend Grandma had a fall, which led to her getting a ride in an ambulance and spending a few nights at the hospital. She came home sporting a new boot and a walker which she will need to use for perhaps the next two months.Purlie, our compassionate kittie from Australia has really wamred up to Grandma since Mikie 2 is no longer in the house. Or should I say Purlie is getting warmed up by Grandma?Grandma will now need 24/7 supervision and care. Our lives have now taken an interesting turn!

Helping beautify at Flipside

Shellie, Pam and Louise Murdock went out and got flowers to help beautify the front of the Flipside facility. This process has just begun! Ambiance as people drive in! (Sorry no one took pictures of the ladies doing their work).

Deron, Ken & Steve work in the back parking lot regularly, beautifying it by killing the weeds, picking up trash, raking up leaves, pruning the bushes, planting new bushes and making sure everything is well watered. Here is Ken & Deron restaking a tree after a recent wind storm.

Steve has been slowly pruning (shaping) the bushes around the parking lot.

Jasen and Prestin have now jumped in and we are making some real headway in creating ambiance even in the parking lot! Here Jasen is stomping down the clippings from my pruning!

Fixing up our space

One of the results of our staying in teh Southern California area for now is our fixing up our bedroom. Up to now it has been as it was for 40 years. Since we are staying awhile we need a place of refuge in our home.

We pulled up the carpet and found lovely hard wood floors, which we have polished. We have painted the walls and trim and it oh feels so fresh. We have removed mom's remaining clutter from our room (whithout too much of a struggle). We have hung blinds, and all that is awaiting for our completion is to install the ceiling fan and finish the closet doors. Here are some of the photos. We will add more when it is all finished.

New Things for Deron

Deron has been able to step into some new territory recently. He purchased a Ford F150 truck, and it is so sweet. He has been able to take up snowboarding, something he has desired to do for many years, but was kind of hard while living in the sunny sub-tropics of Queensland, Australia. Here he is with both his new sport and new truck. He is so thankful for his job at the hospital!
